Canadian Soprano Megan Miceli has been praised for her “bright, pure, well focused high lyric soprano, with admirably steady and evenly produced tone” (Musical Toronto). Recently, Megan won First Prize in the Toronto Mozart Vocal Competition and also competed as a semifinalist in the OSM Manulife Competition. Megan had the opportunity to perform the world premiere of the Canadian mini-opera Evangeline, composed by Dawn Sonntag. Some role highlights include Morgana (Alcina), Aurore (Le portrait de Manon), Adele (Die Fledermaus, cover), Giannetta (L’elisir d’amore), L’amour (Pygmalion), Rose (At the Statue of Venus), Suor Osmina (Suor Angelica) with Opera McGill, Despina (Così fan tutte) at Halifax Summer Opera Festival, and chorus (Die Fledermaus) with Opera5. She was also a semi-finalist in the Elizabeth Wirth Vocal Competition at the Schulich School of Music. As well, she has performed in the Canadian premiere of Michael Ching’s opera Speed Dating, Tonight!

Equally at home on the concert stage, some of her soloist work includes Beethoven’s Mess C-dur (The Cantabile Chorale), Fauré’s Requiem (McGill Concert Choir), Handel’s Israel in Egypt (McGill Baroque Orchestra), Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri (L’Oasis Musicale), and Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen, among others. She recently appeared in concert with BrottOpera and the National Academy Orchestra and has also appeared in concert with Opera in Concert. Megan has had the opportunity to perform in Opera Conference 2016 held in Montreal, QC and has performed as a solo actor with the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble in Laborintus II by Berio. Upcoming, she will be performing Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Regina Coeli with the Toronto Mozart Players.

This summer, she was thrilled to be a participant in Toronto Summer Music Festival’s Art of Song Program as well as perform in the Vocalypse: Opera from Scratch program.
