Asher Ian Armstrong talks about Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 17 in G major that he will perform on Sunday, November 24, 2019, with the Toronto Mozart Players, led by conductor David Bowser, and some talented guests. Tickets and information here.
The concerto is beautiful and sincere. There are so many melodies that go right to your heart, without stopping to ask your head for directions (to paraphrase Adorno). There is also something so satisfying about the musical relationships you get to share with the orchestral players–it’s true chamber music. It is always a huge pleasure for me to work with a musician as perceptive, intelligent, and gifted as David Bowser, and I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to play this wonderful work with David and the Mozart Players.
