Jun Lam Wesley Hui, bass, hails from Unionville, Ontario. He is in his fourth year of his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Dr. Darryl Edwards.
Most recently, Wesley has played the role of Antonio and understudied the role of Bartolo in U of
T Opera’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro. With COSI Connection, he has recently played the roles of
Dick Deadeye in H.M.S. Pinafore, Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof, Cascada in The Merry Widow, Old
Adam in Ruddigore, and the Foreman in Trial by Jury. In 2018, he appeared in U of T Opera’s production
of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, has played the role of Ambrogio and was in the chorus in Opera5’s
production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and played the role of Masetto in Centre of Opera Studies in Italy
(COSI) Program’s 2017 production of Don Giovanni.
Wesley has been a soloist at the Toronto Hong Kong Lions Club Annual Charity Gala and curated
and performed in U of T Voice Studies’ An Evening of Chinese Art Song. Wesley has sung with the
Toronto Youth Choir, U of T Schola Cantorum, U of T MacMillan Singers, and the Ontario Youth Choir.
At the University of Toronto, Wesley was awarded the full-tuition Robert William Bygrave
Entrance Scholarship in Voice Studies.
Apart from his musical engagements and studies, Wesley is on the board of directors of
Confluence Concerts, an eclectic concert series pioneered by Larry Beckwith in Toronto.
